Copper Development Association (CDA) prides itself on the quality and accuracy of the information it has been providing since 1933 and sets the highest standards for its publications and online content, used by professionals as reference materials. Carol was employed at CDA from 1990 to 2014 as Executive Secretary, during which time she had sole responsibility for ensuring the accuracy, consistency and standard of presentation of all outputs, published and internal. Over the 24 years, this included many technical and promotional publications.
The type of documents Carol worked on includes press releases, member reports, annual accounts, meeting papers, technical publications, promotional brochures, plus a variety of online content.
The services Carol provided during her time at CDA included copyediting and proofreading.
Carol has good experience of taking a project through from first draft to DTP-ready Word document, including managing the peer-review process. This includes complex technical publications of 100 pages and drafts from non-native English speakers. Carol ensures the content is structured correctly, reads well, is in line with the house style and typo-free.
Carol has excellent IT skills, is familiar with styles, track changes, uses version numbering and shares files over Dropbox, so the process is fully electronic.
Carol also works on printed copy and has the necessary qualifications to mark up changes.
Carol also works with publishers on layouts and their proofing, again adhering to house styles/brand requirements.
Carol is extremely capable of managing her workload in a timely and efficient manner and meeting both urgent and longer-term deadlines.
Carol maintains the highest standards in her work at all times, has great diplomatic skills and is always a pleasure to work with.
After Carol’s retirement, she was retained as a copyeditor/proofreader for publications, such is the quality of her work.

Between 2001 and 2007 Carol Godfrey proofread 36 sections of the Power Quality & Utilisation Guide for me as Editor/Author
Many of these texts originated from non-native English speakers and could be quite challenging.
She has also proofread many small leaflets for me on electrical topics.
In confirmation of her experience in copy editing, she has recently proofread a 106-page technical book on Copper for Busbars, written by me. She dealt with it from the typed manuscript through to the printed copy and I am extremely pleased with the result.

Carol has been looking after my admin for me for the last 2 years, dealing with address and other changes during my house move and has been very helpful with ongoing matters since then.
